Francis Brenneman has experience in a variety of mediums. However in the mid 1980's he dedicated himself completely to honing his skills as a pencil artist. He has developed a bold style that is recognized as both distinctive and sensitive. One immediately senses the honesty and integrity of a Brenneman drawing, in attention to detail, uncommon patience and an incredible sense of balance. The accuracy and subtlety of his interpretive drawings transcend subject matter. More than pictorial studies, his renderings are rich designs of light and shadow. His work can be found in collections all over the world.
Born in Marengo, Iowa, and raised in the farmlands surrounding Kalona, Iowa (Rural Iowa I & Rural Iowa II) Francis has been privileged to work with his amish neighbors (Amish I & Amish II) giving him the rich opportunity to experience the land and its people. The work depicts the regional richness of life and land on a most personal level.
His Original Drawings and his limited edition reproduction prints have for the past 20 years been exhibited and winning awards at many midwestern area art shows. His Calendarof art exhibit locations, annually includes shows from Indiana to Colorado and Montana to Texas. The influences of the western plains are shown in his American Indian images.
